Rabab / Rebab is an ancient Central Asian Instrument. It is a National Instrument of Afghanistan at present. It also played in Pakistan and in Northern India. It is believe that the Rabab is an ancestor of modern Indian Sarod.

Rabab is a peculiar shaped instrument. Body of Rabab is carved from one log of Mulberry (Toot) wood. The lower half portion of rabab where it is customarily carved covered with got skin. Upper part or neck is magnificently inlayed of sea shells. Four main strings go on top of the bridge tied with end pin at the bottom and winded to the pegs in the peg box on top of the neck. 12 sympathetic strings go underneath the main strings winded to the small pegs at the end and tied to the same end pin at the rare end.
